Where Can I Find Some Hornstone To Make Stone Tools?
Kentucky Hornstone is getting harder to come by, but remains fairly plentiful in the southeastern states. This type of Hornstone is found as round “cannon ball” type cobbles. You will find it at knap-ins mainly in half nodules, quarter nodules, and slabs. It’s not a material for beginners because it takes practice to be able to take a half or quarter nodule and get the hump side off without losing all of the width. It’s also a great substitute to make nice turkey tail points.
