Bar Sink
Why does one of my cats like to lick the bar of soap when he jumps up to the bathroom sink?
I suppose that’s similar to a former cat of mine, loving to lick photographs! Maybe it’s a form of pica, (which humans also have) where a deficiency in their diet causes them to want non-food items?
If you are feeding your cat premium cat food they probably are not deficient in any nutrients (such as what happens with pica).
I would say they simply like the fats in soap. Cats love fats. Fatty milk, butter, fat off meat and chicken… I think it is b/c they lack the sensors to taste sugars. My cats love to lick butter and sour cream!
I would just put the soap somewhere else to prevent your kitty from getting an upset stomach.
